Project Development Manager
Reports to: Senior Leader, Project Development
Location: San Antonio, TX
Overview
A growing renewable energy company based in San Antonio is seeking a Project
Development Manager to support ongoing and future energy projects. This position offers the
opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment within a collaborative team, contributing to
the development and execution of utility-scale and distributed generation projects.
Role Summary
Reporting to senior project development leadership, this role is responsible for managing all
aspects of land acquisition and project development activities from site identification through
permitting and early-stage execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage land development efforts for current and future energy projects.
• Identify and evaluate potential project sites through detailed real estate and feasibility
analysis.
• Conduct due diligence including zoning, environmental constraints, permitting
requirements, interconnection access, and commercial viability.
• Oversee land negotiations, including leases, purchases, easements, rights-of-way, and
related agreements with landowners and stakeholders.
• Coordinate surveys (e.g., ALTA, topographic) and title work to confirm site
suitability and ownership.
• Assess and mitigate title risks, including mineral rights and related agreements.
• Manage relationships with consultants, including environmental, engineering, legal,
and permitting specialists.
• Support interconnection evaluations by working with engineers to assess grid access
and capacity.
• Coordinate environmental studies (e.g., Phase I/II assessments, wetlands, protected
species, cultural resources).
• Engage with local, state, and federal agencies to secure necessary permits and
approvals.
• Evaluate and pursue applicable tax incentives or abatements; participate in public
meetings as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including development, legal,
finance, and engineering.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and competing priorities across multiple
development activities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy, or a
related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in project development, land acquisition,
or real estate within the energy sector.
• Prior experience in land services or similar roles is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrated negotiation and contract management experience.
• Familiarity with land use regulations, public land records, and permitting processes.
• Working knowledge of surveys, title insurance, easements, rights-of-way, and land
agreements.
• Experience with environmental assessments and regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of tax incentives and jurisdictional processes is beneficial.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Experience coordinating with government agencies and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of interconnection processes and grid infrastructure is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
