As our field service operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced electrical field professional who is ready to take the next step into project management.

The Opportunity

The Electrical Field Service Project Manager will plan and coordinate field service projects from initial customer request through execution and closeout.

You will act as the primary connection between customers, field technicians, subcontractors, suppliers, and VE Power’s internal team. Your focus will be ensuring that each project is properly scoped, safely planned, effectively staffed, clearly communicated, documented, and completed in accordance with customer requirements.

This is primarily a project management position; however, occasional travel and on-site technical support will be required. The successful candidate must be comfortable working around substations, transformers, switchgear, BESS facilities, solar installations, and energized electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate electrical field service, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and repair projects.
• Review customer requests, electrical drawings, technical specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
• Develop project schedules, crew plans, work packages, equipment lists, and mobilization requirements.
• Coordinate field technicians, subcontractors, test equipment, rental equipment, materials, and site access.
• Lead pre-job planning meetings and communicate the approved scope and project expectations to field crews.
• Act as the primary customer contact throughout project planning and execution.
• Coordinate work at BESS, solar PV, utility, industrial, transformer, switchgear, and substation sites.
• Monitor schedules, labor hours, expenses, subcontractor costs, and overall project performance.
• Identify scope changes, delays, technical concerns, safety risks, and commercial risks.
• Prepare change-order information and obtain authorization for additional work.
• Confirm that crews have the required drawings, procedures, safety documentation, tools, test equipment, and site information.
• Support job hazard assessments, switching and isolation requirements, site orientations, permits, and customer safety requirements.
• Review field service reports, test results, photographs, timesheets, and expense submissions.
• Maintain organized and complete project records.
• Coordinate deficiencies, corrective work, warranty matters, customer training, and return visits.
• Support estimating, proposal preparation, and technical scope development for new opportunities.
• Participate in project closeout reviews and help continuously improve VE Power’s field service processes.

Typical Project Work

Projects may include:

• BESS installation support, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Solar PV facility electrical testing and commissioning
• Transformer installation, assembly, inspection, testing, and commissioning
• Transformer maintenance, oil processing, vacuum filling, repairs, and component replacement
• Medium- and high-voltage switchgear installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Substation testing, commissioning, maintenance, and modifications
• Electrical equipment inspections and preventive maintenance
• Protection, control, grounding, and auxiliary system coordination
• Emergency electrical field service response
• Customer training, deficiency resolution, and project closeout

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in electrical field service, power systems, renewable energy, substations, transformers, switchgear, testing, commissioning, or a related high-voltage environment.
• Strong practical understanding of electrical field work, crew requirements, site conditions, and electrical safety.
• Previous experience leading crews, supervising field work, coordinating projects, or working as a senior technician, lead hand, or foreman.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment nameplates, technical specifications, test reports, and scopes of work.
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to communicate professionally with technicians, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and management.
• Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
• Ability to satisfy customer-specific site access, safety, drug and alcohol testing, and background requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BESS, utility-scale solar PV, transformers, switchgear, substations, or high-voltage electrical equipment.
• Experience with electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair.
• Previous experience as a lead technician, foreman, field supervisor, service coordinator, or project manager.
• Familiarity with project budgets, purchase orders, change orders, progress reporting, and subcontractor coordination.
• Familiarity with applicable electrical, utility, construction, and OSHA safety requirements.
• OSHA training, electrical safety training, or other recognized industry credentials.
• Project management training, PMP certification, or equivalent experience is an asset but is not required.

Formal project management experience is valuable, but it is not the only path into this position. VE Power welcomes applications from experienced field professionals who have demonstrated leadership, sound technical judgment, customer communication skills, and the ability to organize work effectively.

The successful candidate will understand what field crews need because they have direct experience working in electrical field environments.

They will be able to anticipate site requirements, organize crews and equipment before mobilization, communicate confidently with customers, maintain control of project scope and costs, and ensure that field and closeout documentation is completed correctly.
