Central Inverter BESS Technician (Journeyman)

We offer competitive pay and benefits and are currently looking for a Central Inverter BESS Technician (Journeyman) with preferred experience in the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) integrated with central inverters; however, we will train the right candidate. The position will require extensive travel and extended overnight stays in Texas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment including battery racks/modules, power conversion systems (PCS), cooling systems, controllers, and associated electrical components.
• Conduct scheduled inspections, testing, calibrations, and diagnostics on BESS units in accordance with maintenance procedures and commissioning requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and communication faults within BESS units using standard diagnostic tools to identify root causes and restore system operation.
• Execute corrective repairs and component replacements to minimize system downtime and maintain operational reliability.
• Perform safe lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow established electrical safety practices when working on BESS equipment.
• Support commissioning and pre-commissioning activities including system startup, firmware/software updates, configuration verification, and functional testing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma minimum; associate/bachelor's in electrical engineering or related preferred.
• Journeyman electrician license required for hands-on electrical work
• One (1) year of experience in power systems/renewables, with specific BESS, inverter, and electrical troubleshooting, or similar electrical experience
• Proficiency in BESS components (inverters, batteries, controls), power electronics, electrical safety, SCADA, high-voltage switching (HV/MV/LV), and tools for testing/repair
• Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to travel for up to a month at a time
• Ability to drive for extended periods of time
• Ability to work long hours outside in remote areas
• Must pass background check, have valid driver’s license and clean MVR

Preferred:

• NABCEP PV certification
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
