Job Title: Solar Quality Control Lead (bilingual)

Department: Solar Construction
Reports To: Project Manager, Quality Manager & Safety Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (or Exempt, depending on company policy)
Location: Field-Based / Project Sites

Position Summary

Power Ray LLC is seeking a dedicated and safety-driven Safety Coordinator to lead and implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols across our utility-scale solar projects. This essential role ensures regulatory compliance and promotes a proactive safety culture that aligns with Power Ray’s mission and values. The ideal candidate will have strong field safety experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead by example in dynamic project environments.

The Solar Quality Control Lead oversees and ensures that all solar installation activities meet or exceed company, client, and industry quality standards. This role is responsible for performing inspections, documenting compliance, identifying deficiencies, and training crew members on quality best practices. The QC Lead acts as the on-site authority for quality-related issues, ensuring safe, efficient, and code-compliant solar project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Inspection

  • Conduct daily inspections of solar installation work (mechanical, electrical, and civil) to ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes (NEC, OSHA, manufacturer guidelines).
  • Perform and document quality checks at key construction milestones.
  • Verify that materials meet approved specifications before installation.
  • Monitor workmanship to identify and correct deficiencies promptly.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed inspection reports, punch lists, and corrective action logs.
  • Track and close all non-conformance reports (NCRs) in a timely manner.
  • Submit daily QC reports to project management.
  • Maintain organized quality records for project closeout.

Team Coordination

  • Work with site supervisors and foremen to correct deficiencies.
  • Provide on-the-spot coaching and training to crew members regarding quality standards.
  • Coordinate with safety teams to ensure quality and safety requirements are integrated.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with company quality control procedures and client requirements.
  • Keep current with changes in solar installation codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Support commissioning teams during testing and verification processes.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in solar construction, preferably in a QC or supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale or commercial solar projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to speak fluently in Spanish & English.
  • Strong understanding of solar installation processes (mechanical, electrical, and civil).
  • Knowledge of applicable codes (NEC, IBC, OSHA) and quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with inspection software, spreadsheets, and digital reporting tools.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional or equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical site inspections.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based at active solar construction sites.
  • Travel to multiple project locations as required.
  • May involve extended hours to meet project deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
