Industry: Renewable Energy / Solar Structures
Who we are
A North American leader in solar infrastructure, OPSUN delivers custom-engineered, precision-manufactured support structures for solar panels across Canada, the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
While our corporate headquarters and engineering powerhouse reside in Quebec City, our operational reach is backed by two strategic production facilities in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, and High Point, North Carolina, USA.
Our continued success in this fast-growing industry is driven by a highly dedicated, innovative, and agile team. Position Summary Opsun Corporate is looking for a skilled Production Machinist to join our Operations team.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for both operating and maintaining a variety of production equipment to support our daily manufacturing output. You will play a key role in keeping our production lines running efficiently: setting up machines for each production run, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting mechanical issues as they arise.
Beyond maintenance, you will actively contribute to production by executing cutting, drilling, fastening, and assembly tasks to meet quality targets and delivery schedules. This position is ideal for a mechanically minded individual who takes pride in both the precision of their work and the reliability of their equipment.
If you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoy wearing multiple hats, we want to hear from you.
Core Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Safely operating industrial production equipment — including band saw, cold saw, press drill, Mill drill, screwing machines and Automated Manufacturing Cell — in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, and all applicable safety procedures.
- Preventive Maintenance: Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on assigned machinery to minimize unplanned downtime, extend equipment service life, and maintain optimal production performance.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues on production equipment with a high degree of autonomy. Identifying root causes, performing corrective actions, and escalating complex failures when required.
- Setup and Changeover: Setting up, calibrating, and adjusting machines for different production runs. Ensuring correct tooling, fixtures, and parameters are in place before production begins, and validating output quality at startup.
- Production Output: Executing production tasks — cutting, drilling, fastening, and assembly — to meet daily targets while upholding quality standards and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. TPL-HR-002_HP-V1
