Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, process-driven Chief of Staff to support a growing utility-scale renewable energy development platform. This individual will serve as the operational backbone of the development organization, ensuring projects remain on schedule, stakeholders remain accountable, and critical activities are executed efficiently across a growing portfolio.
Working closely with senior development leadership, the Chief of Staff will coordinate internal developers, consultants, and external stakeholders while maintaining visibility across project schedules, permitting, environmental reviews, and key development milestones.
The successful candidate will proactively identify risks, track deliverables, improve processes, and ensure projects advance smoothly through the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the organizational hub of the development team, ensuring projects remain on track and critical action items are completed.
- Coordinate internal developers, consultants, landowners, agencies, utilities, and other external stakeholders to maintain alignment and accountability.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, reporting tools, and development dashboards.
- Monitor consultant deliverables, permitting activities, environmental studies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support projects through key development stages, including permitting, environmental review, NEPA processes, stakeholder engagement, and agency coordination.
- Identify schedule risks, bottlenecks, missing deliverables, and dependencies, escalating issues early and proposing solutions.
- Track stakeholder commitments and ensure follow-through on agreed actions and deadlines.
- Review project documentation, studies, permit applications, and consultant work products for completeness and quality.
- Facilitate coordination meetings, maintain action logs, and drive execution across multiple concurrent projects.
- Support senior leadership in evaluating project readiness, development strategy, and progress against established milestones.
- Continuously improve project management systems, workflows, and organizational processes.
- Provide regular reporting on project status, risks, schedule performance, and development priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Studies, Business, Project Management, Engineering, Planning, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in renewable energy development, project management, permitting, development coordination, or related infrastructure development.
- Strong understanding of utility-scale renewable energy development processes and project lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with permitting, environmental review and compliance, NEPA, agency coordination, development schedules, consultant management, and project execution.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to identify gaps, challenge assumptions, and hold stakeholders accountable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with project tracking, reporting, and organizational systems.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a Development Manager, Project Manager, Development Coordinator, Chief of Staff, or similar role within renewable energy development.
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, energy storage, transmission, or other energy infrastructure projects.
- Experience coordinating consultants, environmental specialists, engineering firms, and regulatory agencies.
- Exposure to multi-state project portfolios and complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience building project management processes within a growing development platform.
