Summary
The Manager, Engineering – PV Performance & Analytics conducts technical and commercial due diligence related to solar power projects for the purpose of supporting project pre-construction, construction/commissioning with a focus on performance testing and contract management. The Manager, Engineering – PV Performance & Analytics requires subject matter expertise in solar PV plant equipment technologies, design and construction phases, Commissioning support for Solar PV projects, energy modeling expertise, testing methodologies for capacity testing and functional tests, and involves both technical services and managing customer relationships, as well as a technical team
This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 3 days in office.
Requirements
- Manages all phases of utility-scale Solar PV performance testing, from planning through test implementation and completion. Works with Performance testing managers to monitor performance testing for Solar PV power plants. Reviews and comments on the test procedure prior to commencement of testing and then reviews test results post-testing.
- Serves as primary external client contact for performance testing, building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships across various projects. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to align project goals with client and company objectives.
- Collaborates with a small team of technical subject matter experts, guiding them in the use of PVSyst, PVCase and other modeling software to achieve high-quality design solutions.
- Drives process automation for performance testing and other Solar Engineering teamwork by guiding and prioritizing the work of Data Engineers.
- Interprets, runs, troubleshoots, and modifies python code with the support of Data Engineers.
- Supports Project Management team with project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Reviews technical terms in commercial documents including, but not limited to, equipment supply agreements, EPC agreements, and offtake agreements.
- Provides construction support services, including visiting construction sites and/or manufacturing.
- Serves as individual contributor and subject matter expert to Project Managers.
- Follows company management practices and company policies, procedures and work rules.
- Distributes workloads to engineering resources on your team.
- Provides mentorship to engineers and subject matter experts.
- Leads the development of testing procedures, forms, tools, and work instructions as required by project contract requirements.
- Supports Commissioning checklists related to Tracker, SCADA, MET, and Inverters.
- Ensures that proper documentation is established for performance and testing records.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to define and execute testing protocols to achieve commercial operation, based on market rules, local AHJ/utility requirements, and contracts.
- Drives continuous improvement in developing and capturing technical problem-solving knowledge to enable other organizations to resolve customer problems and inquiries effectively.
- Reviews contracts, subcontracts, and project drawings to ensure contracted deliverables are understood, met, and align with internal commissioning requisites.
- Operates a company-aligned vehicle for site visits and business trips.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Understands typical market terms and conditions related to technology risks, construction budgets and schedules as well as “bankable” terms and conditions.
- Serves as reference and coach in area of expertise for the rest of team.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Resource, Physics, or related technical discipline.
- 5 years Construction Industry experience, with focus in Solar Renewables and/or as a test engineer or design engineer responsible for test development required
- 3 years Leadership/Supervisor/Manager experience required
- Ability to travel 5 to 15% required.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced level of knowledge in:
- Communication:
- Internally with Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, CAD Designers, Solar Engineers, Finance Analysts, Project Managers, executive management, Contract Team, Pre-construction & Estimating Teams, Development Team, Construction Team, Human Resources / Payroll /etc.
- Externally with Client, Independent Review Engineer, Jurisdictional Agency, and Vendors

- Understanding operational needs of the owners, utilities, grid and interconnection entities
- Solar power plant design
- Solar power plant performance analysis
- Understanding concepts of collection system design
- Familiarity with Industry Standards
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Knowledge in the use of PVCase layout software a plus
- Functional competencies included drive, collaboration, communication, attention to detail, and continuous improvement.
Anticipated base salary range: $132,000 - $165,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
