Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Solar Field Technician to join our dynamic renewable energy team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of photovoltaic (solar) systems at onshore renewable energy sites. Your expertise will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of solar power facilities, contributing to a sustainable energy future. Duties

  • Install photovoltaic systems, including fixture installation and electrical wiring on rooftops and ground-mounted arrays
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to guide installation and troubleshooting processes
  • Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting of high voltage and low voltage systems to identify faults and implement effective repairs
  • Follow electrical safety procedures in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E standards to ensure a safe work environment
  • Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment safely and efficiently during installation and maintenance activities
  • Perform routine inspections of solar equipment, including inverters, wiring, fixtures, and mounting structures
  • Collaborate with team members on construction site activities such as roofing, framing, and system commissioning to ensure quality standards are met

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems within photovoltaic installations
  • Experience reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for system layout and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements for solar installations and NFPA 70E safety standards
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems using diagnostic tools and techniques
  • Hands-on experience with photovoltaic system installation on various structures including roofs and ground mounts
  • Construction site experience with roofing, framing, or general construction work preferred
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, ladders safely, and adhere to outdoor work safety protocols
  • Solid understanding of electrical safety procedures specific to outdoor renewable energy projects
  • Experience working as a commercial electrician or in similar electrical roles within the renewable energy sector is highly desirable
  • Ability to read blueprints accurately and follow detailed technical instructions for fixture installation and wiring
