Role Description The Solar Quality Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in South Carolina, United States. This role is responsible for performing quality inspections on solar installations, including modules, racking, wiring, inverters, and other system components to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes. The technician documents findings, prepares inspection reports, and communicates issues and corrective actions to site supervisors and project managers. Daily tasks include verifying workmanship, checking adherence to installation procedures, assisting with root-cause analysis of defects or performance issues, and supporting commissioning activities. The role also involves collaborating closely with construction teams, following standardized quality control checklists, and maintaining accurate records to support continuous improvement and project closeout.

Qualifications

  • Experience with solar or electrical installations, including familiarity with PV modules, inverters, racking, and balance-of-system components.
  • Knowledge of quality control or quality assurance practices, including inspection techniques, documentation, and corrective action processes.
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles and relevant codes or standards (e.g., NEC, local safety regulations) applicable to solar construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, installation manuals, and project specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, observational skills, and ability to identify workmanship or safety issues in the field.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with site crews, supervisors, and project managers, and for preparing clear quality reports.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically able to walk job sites, climb ladders, and inspect equipment safely.
  • Proficiency with basic digital tools for data entry, photo documentation, and report generation; experience with quality or field management software is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or vocational training in electrical, construction, or renewable energy fields is preferred.
  • Prior experience in solar construction, quality inspection, or related roles is strongly beneficial; willingness to learn and follow established procedures is essential.
