About the Opportunity
My client is delivering large-scale power and infrastructure projects that will support the next generation of AI data centers.
They are looking for a Solar Construction Manager to lead the on-site delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects from initial mobilization through energization and commercial operation.
This position requires a hands-on construction leader who can coordinate multiple trades, challenge project schedules, enforce strict safety standards and resolve field issues before they affect the critical path.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day site execution for utility-scale solar and BESS construction projects.
- Coordinate EPC contractors, civil crews, electrical trades and equipment vendors.
- Deliver projects safely, on schedule and within budget from mobilization through energization.
- Build, maintain and manage integrated construction schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Coordinate civil, structural, racking, PV, inverter, BESS, substation and gen-tie activities.
- Identify schedule slippage and implement recovery plans before delays affect critical milestones.
- Establish and enforce project safety plans across all contractors and subcontractors.
- Maintain a zero-incident culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Resolve field coordination issues between civil, mechanical and electrical trades.
- Manage QA/QC, RFIs, submittals, change orders, punch lists and project close-out.
- Track daily progress, earned value, resource loading and cost to complete.
- Provide clear and actionable reporting to project leadership.
- Identify procurement risks involving transformers, switchgear, inverters and other long-lead equipment.
- Coordinate SCADA integration, utility interconnection and commissioning milestones.
- Hold contractors and vendors accountable for safety, quality and schedule performance.
Required Experience
- Experience managing utility-scale solar, solar-plus-storage or high-voltage substation construction.
- Successful delivery of projects from mobilization through commercial operation.
- Strong understanding of civil, racking, PV, inverter and electrical construction.
- Experience coordinating several construction scopes simultaneously against an integrated critical path.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Experience creating and executing detailed site safety plans.
- Proven ability to manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and equipment vendors.
- Knowledge of QA/QC, RFI, submittal and change-order processes.
- Ability to identify and address long-lead procurement risks.
- Strong understanding of construction reporting, earned value, resource loading and cost forecasting.
- Willingness to take ownership and make decisions in a fast-moving site environment.
Preferred Experience
- Utility-scale battery energy storage system construction.
- High-voltage substations and gen-tie infrastructure.
- SCADA integration and utility interconnection.
- Multi-site or concurrent project delivery.
- Design-build or EPC project environments.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience supporting power infrastructure for mission-critical or data center developments.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity package.
- Health, dental and vision insurance.
- Retirement or pension plan.
- Generous paid time off.
- Opportunity to deliver major energy infrastructure projects supporting the continued expansion of AI.
