Compensation: $70,000 – $120,000 per year

Role Overview

This is a high-level technical estimating position focused on preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. Working directly onsite in Santa Rosa, CA, you will manage material/labor takeoffs, lead vendor negotiations, and collaborate closely with project managers and engineers to develop comprehensive bid proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimating & Bid Preparation: Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents. Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs to develop accurate cost estimates, scope clarifications, and competitive bid proposals.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations. Negotiate pricing and maintain deep supplier relationships to secure current market pricing.
• Project & Value Engineering Support: Collaborate with field supervisors and engineers during preconstruction planning. Provide value engineering recommendations, support cost tracking, and prepare pricing for change orders or scope revisions.
• Process Improvement: Maintain and update historical cost records, pricing libraries, and estimating databases. Participate actively in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs.

Required Qualifications

• Core Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial and/or industrial construction, handling projects from concept through bid submission.
• Industry Environment: Strong background estimating complex projects involving commercial buildings, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, or food-processing facilities is highly preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Elite understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and contract documents.
• Software & Technology: Hands-on proficiency with specialized electrical estimating software, digital takeoff platforms, and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical field experience as an electrician, foreman, or project engineer is highly desirable.
• Direct background in design-build electrical construction or medium-voltage electrical installations.
• Familiarity with industrial controls, automation systems, process facilities, renewable energy, or solar electrical systems.
